Mold engineering is a core engineering aspect that serves as the foundation of the manufacturing industry. Therefore, developing and nurturing experts is extremely important. The Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Samsung recently held the opening ceremony for course 4 of the Cooperation Training Program for Vietnamese mold experts.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Vietnam signed a cooperation program for training Vietnamese mold experts from 2020 to 2023 at the 9th meeting of the Vietnam-Korea Joint Committee on Vietnam-Korea Cooperation of Energy, Industry and Trade in 2019. As a result, Samsung will help train 200 mold technicians in order to increase production capacity and mold autonomy for mold manufacturers in Vietnam’s basic manufacturing sector.

Course 4 of the training program for Vietnamese mold experts (which begins on June 14) includes 31 students from mechanical and mold companies, as well as lecturers from southern province colleges and universities. Participants will be trained for 14 weeks, with 10 weeks in Vietnam and 4 weeks of practical training in Korea.
This program covers a wide range of topics, including general creative activities (mold design and production), as well as training in three areas (plastic injection molds, punching molds, and proper processing). In addition, the course trains technicians in system management, design resource management, and standards management, direct practice during the stages of design, CNC/EDM, cutting, and winding electrodes; mold assembly, testing, inspection, and modification…
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s Mold and Precision Machining industries are currently worth more than $1 billion per year. With an annual growth rate of 18%, this industry is attracting the attention of many domestic and international businesses. Notably, Vietnamese companies produce only 8.5% of injection molds; the remainder are stamping molds. As a result, molds for plastic production, mechanical engineering, machine parts, components, and so on are in high demand to improve product quality, allowing domestic businesses to expand their capacity to participate in the global supply chain.
Mold engineering is a core engineering aspect that serves as the foundation of the manufacturing industry. Therefore, developing and nurturing experts is extremely important. Furthermore, increasing mold engineering capacity necessitates the use of advanced manufacturing techniques that aid in the optimization of product processing quality for visual or tactile evaluation criteria at all levels. Plastic injection products, pressure stamping, and precision machining can all make significant contributions to Vietnam’s industrial production sector, particularly hardware production for electronic devices or electronics, as well as the motorcycle and car manufacturing industries.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade collaborated with Samsung Vietnam to implement a number of practical and effective programs, which helped to improve the capacity of Vietnam’s supporting industry, which include a cooperation program with Samsung to train consultants in the field of support industry; Program “Organizing consulting and technical support to improve production at Vietnamese enterprises in the field of supporting industries and finished product manufacturing”…
